Calorie Calculator
We never recommend less than 1200 kilocalories per day.
The Calorie Calculator is based on the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the latest (1990) revision of the Harris-Benedict Equation.
For men:
BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) + 5
For women:
BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) - 161
The resulting value is then modified according to your activily level:
AMR = BMR * Activity Factor
where AMR stands for active metabolic rate and Activity Factor is:
1.2 for Sedentary
1.375 for Light
1.55 for Moderate
1.725 for Active
1.9 for Very Active
Finally, the resutls are presented as daily calorie target for maintaining, losing (-500kcal) or gaining (+500kcal) weight.
